The Inedo Den

As Inedo's sole visual designer, I design, code, and maintain a large majority of inedo.com, you can view the full live site here.

This was a re-design of Inedo's extension page, The Inedo Den, you can view the live mini-site here.

Comment from Praqma Consulting:

"ProGet actually achieves a plugin marketplace with click-to-install functionality requiring only a restart. While there are only a small selection of plugins, none of which support new repository types, it is by far the best experience of the three products."

The Re-design

For the re-design, I really wanted to modernize the repository and provide users with more information at a glance. I also wanted to make the page easily searchable and simple to filter extensions by what they were designed to do.

To fulfill these user needs I added a search bar to the top, and a filtering sidebar.

For each extension card I included the name, a brief description, a large logo and the logo's of the Inedo products it could connect to. I also added a small icon to differentiate between community supported extensions and Inedo supported extensions. All of these additions make it much easier to quickly find what you're looking for, or browse all of your options in a specific area of interest.

Once you click on a den card, you are brought to that specific extension's page on the site.

Here you can get more information about the extension, view it on GitHub or download it. I chose to add tabs for the body content so users could easily click through to different sections without having to scroll. This keeps all the information above the fold, with the most important information featured on the first tab.

I also designed an entrance page as a way to introduce users to the Inedo Den, feature new extensions and give them the option to create a user profile.

Original Extension Page

The Inedo Den is a repository of extensions available for Inedo's software products. Originally the page was hard to search, and disorganized.
